Being 5 miles out from our Oceanside shop doesn't change the work, but it does mean we load the truck with the spring sizes and drum types common to this build era before we head out, rather than guessing on site. The complication we actually run into here is houses where a previous owner replaced just the opener but left the original 2003 torsion spring and drums in place - the opener looks new, the hardware underneath it doesn't, and the spring is often the real reason the door's been struggling, not the opener. We also see double doors on a single center-mounted torsion spring, which was standard for houses built in this period, and if that spring goes, the whole door is dead until it's replaced - there's no limping along on one side like you can with some two-spring setups. One limitation worth saying plainly: if the track is badly bent or the panels are dented beyond square, a spring repair won't fix the underlying problem, and we'll say so instead of selling a patch that won't hold.
